Random Thoughts - April 17th, 2026
I’ve taken a week off from writing and will be back next week with my regular articles. In the meantime, here’s a few things on my mind lately:
Sports betting may be legal but it’s hard to overstate the toxic effect it has on thousands of men.
I believe more than ever in the age of AI that a liberal arts degree that equips people in critical thinking skills, good communication skills, and the ability to learn continuously is the best path for a strong and resilient career(s).
Most large problems in society rarely have one root cause. There’s often multiple causes and lots of nuance. We should be suspicious of those who suggest otherwise.
I hear so much talk about optimizing. Optimizing workflows, optimizing health, etc. I’d like to hear more talk about optimizing community and friendships.
If you are reading this, you are likely among the wealthiest people to ever walk this planet and thus incredibly fortunate to have been born in this place and time. Let’s make sure our lives are overflowing with gratitude and generosity and compassion.
