UGA does the right thing

I've got the links in an update at the NLT site, but UGA has agreed to recognize BYX and to reconsider its policy toward student religious groups.

This is a victory for religious freedom and commonsensical accommodation.

I'd like to think that what finally caused UGA to see the light was the looming threat of an op-ed I was to publish in the AJC tomorrow, but I expect that the force of legal arguments, the inconsistency of its own position, and the fact that Georgia has a faith-friendly Governor who appoints the Regents and is a UGA alumnus probably had a good bit more to do with it.

My hastily revised op-ed, now applauding the University's change of heart, will still appear tomorrow.
