It would be nice to see the
It would be nice to see the frc endorse a democrat. We still get mailings from them @ judicial tyranny. It's too bad they have turned into republican cheerleaders.
I think the simple reason
I think the simple reason for a lack of non-partisan articles, essays and other materials is that most people actually believe something. They may not follow prescribed ideological patterns, but we all have things we care about. To write, think, or speak as though we don't mind the encroachment of ideas opposed to our own is silly and pointless.
I don't just "not support" Obama. I want him and his ideas flatly defeated and out of my life.
Mike: there is a big
Mike: there is a big difference between believing and advocating a particular position and "waging war" and "fighting" against those who disagree with us. The fact remains that there are major differences between people in this country on many issues. Do we just fight each other in a non-violent civil war or should we actually find ways to work together or at least be civil to one another? I certainly know that as a Christian I am commanded to love those that I disagree with.
I think a reason for that is
I think a reason for that is that people can't even conceive of having to work together with others, and that whoever loses the Presidential election, the "Enemy" is someone you'll still have to work with to get things done in this country. The Republicans aren't up and disappearing, so if we want to deal with the Economy, the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan and all the inconceivably enormous issues our country and world face, people are going to have to work together.
I'm dodging the temptation to get snarky. I feel the same as MWorrell about what McCain and the Republicans mostly mean to me. But common ground has to be found, not just because of the pragmatic point above, but even in my worldview, they have some correct points, others that are worth considering, and I dare venture ~I am even wrong on some points.~
