I Weep For the Future

As a geography major and former teaching assistant, I can't say that I am surprised at this. As the father of two girls, I am amazed at how low the bar has been set.

Ouch.

The funny thing is that the only pagent winner that I personally know was also very intelligent - top 30 students in the class.

As a parent, I'm glad I'm teaching my own kids how to locate our country, our state, etc. on a map. It's amazing how much educational value one can get from a placemat. It's a great way to stimulate their minds while your sitting at a meal.
