Hillary Clinton Will Say Anything To Get Elected

Example #175 from Daily News:

Hillary Clinton predicted Saturday that just electing her President will cut the price of oil.

When the world hears her commitment at her inauguration about ending American dependence on foreign fuel, Clinton says, oil-pumping countries will lower prices to stifle America's incentive to develop alternative energy.

"I predict to you, the oil-producing countries will drop the price of oil," Clinton said, speaking at the Manchester YWCA. "They will once again assume, once the cost pressure is off, Americans and our political process will recede."

Clinton argued that former President Jimmy Carter in the late 1970s actually started moving in the right direction toward energy independence, but his successor, Ronald Reagan, "dismantled" that work.

"Because costs were low, people didn't care, didn't complain," she said.

She warned that folks shouldn't be grateful now if oil countries cut prices from near $100 a barrel to $60 or $70, and compared it to trying to boil a frog.

"You put him in hot water, it jumps right out, you put him in cold water and turn up the heat - he's a goner," she said. "We've got to figure out how were going to not be the frog in the cold water anymore."

Have we become such an ignorant country that people believe stuff like this? Did I fail to notice the recent news that Hillary Clinton is a member of OPEC now? It is Onion-eque (and completely predictable) that she would claim the ability to lower the price of gas if elected.

Missing in this story is the anger that environmentalist should be feeling. Lower gas prices equal more consumption and reliance upon oil. Considering that Clinton claims to be in favor of energy independence, shouldn't she be calling for higher oil prices?

O ye of such a short

O ye of such a short memory.

The last presidential election we had involved the winner being elected because MOST of the people who voted for him believed Iraq did have WMDs found there and that Iraq had been involved in the 9-11 attacks. This oil comment by HRC doesn't even have HALF the ridiculous falseness of the garbage W led his supporters to believe and vote for in 2004. Oil prices might actually drop - her statement is unlikely to be true, but possible. W's stuff was flat out lies. This nation is sadly very, very full of uneducated and stupid voters.

What does GWB have to do

What does GWB have to do with this? I am certainly no fan nor defender of GWB.

I'm sure that there have been plenty of people who have said more ridiculous things over the past decade. But that doesn't change the facts here at all.

Can you say red herring?

Whether or not oil prices drop have nothing to do with the President of the United States - regardless of who that person is.

Oil is a commodity traded on the world market

Does it bother anyone that the "Democratic frontrunner" doesn't understand how oil is priced?

Oil is a commodity traded on the world market, not priced arbitrarily by the producers. They can no more "cut the price" than I can set my own salary. The oil market is one of the best examples of supply and demand at work. The demand for oil is at an all-time high around the world. Unless the OPEC members promise to provide a lot more supply (which, I don't believe they have the capacity to do), then prices will stay this high.

Electing Hillary Clinton will do nothing (one way or the other) for gas prices.

Exactly. If any of the

Exactly. If any of the presidential candidates claim that they can do something to lower the price of oil, you will immediately know that they are either lying or stupid.

Not exactly

That's the point. GWB already proved that you can be elected by telling totally ridiculous lies that a huge chunk (if not the majority) of the country will believe and reward you for. And his were known at the time to be lies - at least HRC's can't be verified as false until she gets elected. It's not about the candidate being a liar or being stupid - it's about the voters being stupid and tending to reward the liar.

remember

"John Doe",

What lies did GWB tell in order to get elected? If you are referring to WMD in Iraq, remember that many high profile Democrats were quoted as saying the Iraq had WMD before Bush was even elected.

Well by all means

tell me which of them got elected as president on the backs of those lies and we'll call them out, too.
