Good Will Hinton Interviews S.E. Cupp about Why You're Wrong About The Right
Listen in to this week's interview with S.E. Cupp, co-author of Why You're Wrong About The Right: Behind The Myths: The Surprising Truths About Conservatives. In it, we discuss common myths about conservatives (they are mean-spirited, uptight, humorless, homophobic, etc), the role of pundits such as Ann Coulter and Neil Boortz in perpetuating certain myths, the presidential campaign, Bush's legacy, and what the future holds for conservatism.
I'm generally not inclined to read books like this, but after this interview I likely will read it.

Naum,
You can only write a line like that if you haven't read the book. You assume Hitlerism which is not Goldberg's thesis. Facism, National Socialism, is quite clearly the root of todays liberalism. The "progressives" of the 20's and 30's were big fans of Mussolini and Hitler. Read the book. Goldberg is not accusing liberals of harboring notions of genocide and elaborate violence. He does accuse them of being what they are, Statists determined to control our lives.

Wow, Michael Markowitz has convinced me. I am compelled to read Goldberg's book now. Smileys-with-Hitler-mustaches are the new national dialogue.
Anyway...
The Cupp book does sound interesting.

I didn't sell out,
I bought in."

They were big fans of Stalin as well—not that anyone should read the book because of that.
But hey, we all know there are no social engineering instincts in the Liberal/Progressive mindset. I guess it was just the cult of personality. Who has not fallen victim to that, especially when it comes with a smiley face?
1. I've read some excerpts
1. I've read some excerpts of Goldberg's book and it's more ridiculous than any of Coulter's screeds.
2. Goldberg is way off on his definition of fascism — fascism is more akin to corporatism (i.e., Mussolini) and leftists were targets of the fascists in power.
3. Regarding social engineering — both liberals and conservatives seek to engage in such pervasive actions.
4. Liberal != Leftist. In the realms of Hannity, Goldberg, Limbaugh, etc., they are one in the same but they are not equivalent as the left regards much of liberalism in the same vein as conservatism.
5. Fascism != Socialism, and is not the root of today's liberalism.

I enjoyed an hour's reading after linking here from Peach Pundit, especially the recommended reading.
Regarding the interview, I was struck that the only folks Ms. Cupp cited in her mention of nuanced GOP support of gay rights, people like Snowe, Specter, Shays, etc are widely maligned by the right as RINOs.
