Free Eric Volz: July 5th Update
FREE ERIC VOLZ
What you can do now...
For the past almost eight months as people have heard the story of Eric Volz's arrest and imprisonment, after the look of disbelief, there comes a question: "what can we do?" We struggle to believe, still, that this situation is as dire as it appears, that the chance for Eric to be freed hangs by such thin threads. After all, we understand justice to mean that if mistakes are made, they will ultimately be made right.
We wait together for this to become true. There have been and are still available opportunities to communicate with Eric, and to contribute to the costs of his defense. (go to http://www.friendsofericvolz.com/)
But now as we wait, we have another timely and important answer to the question, "what can we do?"
Between the dates of July 21st and 29th (the week that marks the beginning of the 9th month since Eric's arrest) the friends of Eric Volz are calling for all concerned persons and groups to gather together in whatever way your group practices prayer.
We will join together during this week to gather the powers of grace, mercy, forgiveness, justice and love. We believe these powers to be stronger than any of the systemic brokenness and evil that keeps innocent persons imprisoned. This is a time for faithful persons to lean toward the changing of processes and persons who have the power to decide to protect Eric's safety and to set him free.
If you are reading this, and as a group or individual wish to add your energy to hoping with many others, please let us know that you'll be setting aside time as an individual or with a group for a hour, a day, or spread out across this week of response.
Please email the name, email and physical address of the person who will coordinate the effort for your group to: skeenj@mail.belmont.edu. As is possible we will provide materials electronically that can be reproduced as you choose for use with your group. We will also mail additional support materials to share with those who participate. (Please include an estimate of how many are needed in your response).
Thank you for your ongoing concern for Eric and his family.

They need to review the evidence.
This beautiful woman -how sad. No one deserves such a brutal ending.
The news said she was raped...is there no DNA evidence????
How could this young man be accused when there is SO much evidence that he was no where near the crime scene?
APPEAL APPEAL APPEAL
This judge needs to be held accountable....
Thank you
He could have tried to escape
I am going to make this very short. No one has mentioned this, so forgive me IF I am wrong. When Eric went to court and the guards could NOT protect him from the crowds that were yelling, "Kill the gringo". Eric fled on his own, making his way BACK to the (Jail/Court). WHY ??? Why would a guilty man run to a place to be sentenced to 30years in prison??? Why ??? Because he believed that justice would be served. There government have failed one of OUR people. Eric believed, that he is guilty of, for BELEIVING !!!!
Eric
You have to understand one thing. In Nicaragua, there's no such thing as fair play or play by the rules; because, there is no such thing.
The way the game is played is that you make up your own rules as you go.
And I do agree with you; if, Eric had understood the game, saying good bye to Nicaragua would have been okay. And stay away.
Had Eric done the wrong, I still would have felt the same way.
When dealing with incompetence, the best thing to do is to stay away. Which brings me back to what I said: 'there's no such thing as fair play or play by the rules; have to make up your own rules as you go.'
Re: Your reply
Thank you Vince for sheding some light on my thought, that there is no fair play in Nicaragua. I am saddend that Eric did not run because I whole Heartedly believe that he is innocent of this brutal and horrible crime. But as you said , If he had known, and that there is no fair play , you go as it comes along. You make complete sense in your reply and I realized just how right you were. I just wish, and I am sure he does too. If he had tried to flee from the whole ordeal he could have been risking some bodily harm done upon hisself, perhaps even death. But then again, it seems his life is on the line anyways being incarcerated in there prison. Thank You for the feedback.
This is outrageous!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I've been following this case for a while and still find it so frustrating how ignorant the judicial system is in Nica. There are too many questions to convict anyone of this crime let alone a man that was verifiably hundreds of miles away at the time! It's maddening!!All we can do is pray for him daily, pray for justice(real justice), and pray for his strength and day to day sanity.Nothing happens in this world that God doesn't allow even if we don't know why. Please feel free to go to the free eric volz web site and buy something to support his legal battle!!

Yet I will not forget you.

Free a innocent man
As an inmigrant from Honduras I'm so grateful to live in a country where you are innocent until proven BEYOND REASONABLE DOUBT that you are guilty. I thank God every day for this country and what it means to be an AMERICAN and I feel sooo bad for Eric because he is a victim of circumstances and all he did wrong was falling in love with the country of Nicaragua and his people, the same people that before the murder was kissing his ass; I now first hand how it is when a Gringo (a) go to another country everybody wants to be his friend because his got $$$$ that's right DOLLARS and gringos can afford to be generous and generosity is something that people specially in central america are not familiar with. That's why I think that the girl's grandmother is a liar because she said in the interview that she never trusted him and if that was the case she shouldn't have allowed her grandaughter to date a gringo. Bet she like the things she got because of his money.
Gringos are non-chelant about feelings and I do believed when he said tha he is not a jealous person MOST GRINGOS ARENT... and if he was possesive or otherwise he could've taken her to Managua when he moved. She probably have somebody else and hope that Eric would get jealous and marry her so that she could move to the USA with visa and backfired because she probably chose the wrong person to fool around with and Eric didn't care and maybe the other guy wanted some meat and raped and kill her after she refused. IT's SOOO OBVIOUS..... Why should Eric pay for the cow when i was getting the milk for free???
Also I'm appalled at the judge because is bad for Eric that she is so closed minded and that she was his only hope for freedom. She acted almost as she hated him and even with all proof of his innocence she decided to find him guilty SHE'S EVIL and people like her are the reason I call Nashville home since 1982. And also a word of advise for all my GRINGOS out there... are you aware that people like me leave our BEAUTIFUL countries that we love... because we like DEMOCRACY more and we treasure the freedom that you have HERE and want to live this way... I remember when I was in Honduras and the war in Nicaragua was going strong, a whole lot of people was brain washed to hate USA and a whole lot of people practiced communi.. and a whole lot of families like mine where force to leave our homes.... because we had our own minds and wouldn't allowed to be brainwashed and believe me it's still the same, nothing has change; a gringo will always be a gringo and when something bad like this murder happens and a poor gringo is involved.. may God protect him because that people only need a crazy person to lead them and they will cruxify an innocent soul just because everybody is following a crazy person (in this case that crazy ignorant judge. May God protect and give comfort to the Volz family specially Mrs. Volz and also poor Eric may he have strenght to endure the time that lays ahead of him....My prayers are with you, love... Liana
