Eric Volz: Contacting the Nicaraguan Embassy

Will Hinton's picture

We urge you to send this form letter to Fernando Coronel, the Press Director at the Nicaraguan Embassy in Washington:

Fernando.Coronel@embanic.org

To the Honorable Fernando Coronel:

In the spirit of goodwill that exists between many Nicaraguans and Americans, I respectfully write to ask that you to pay considerable attention to the case of Eric Volz. He is an American citizen currently incarcerated in the La Modelo prison, convicted of a crime he did not commit.

Eric's case is currently in the appeal process. As a result, we want to turn your attention to the fact that the justice system is in breach of articles 7 and 10 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights which state, "All are equal before the law and are entitled without any discrimination to equal protection of the law" and "Everyone is entitled in full equality to a fair and public hearing by an independent and impartial tribunal, in the determination of his rights and obligations and of any criminal charge against him."

Please help see to it that Eric's case be reviewed fairly and that justice be done. If interested, below is a link to the Declaration of Human Rights: http://www.unhchr.ch/udhr/

Eric

I am outraged and bewildered by the(lack of)judicial process that is present in Nicaraguan government. Thank you, Will Horton, for giving me a way to express my dismay. I sent the form letter you provided as a way of showing my support for an obviously innocent man. I hope he can return home soon!

Spreading the word

Remember to send out an email to those you know, and urge them to do the same. Taking some small action, then spreading the word, the most effective route here.

Ivan: those people who claim

Ivan: those people who claim to have seen Eric in SJDS actually have zero credibility since they are not willing to step forward as a witness. There is also a reason the prosecuting attorney didn't call these same people as witness; they don't exist.

Justice is found in facts and evidence not hearsay.

Eric

I too am outraged after viewing tonights program on Erics false imprisonment. I am a senior citizen who is becoming very disallusioned with the injustices in this world...especially the court system...even in our own country.

I have emailed my senators and congressmen to ask they get involved in this horrible miscarriage of justice. I have also sent an email to the Hon. Fernando.

Most importantly I will begin praying for Eric and his family tonite and will not stop till I hear of his release. All things are possible through God and if everyone who reads any of these blogs begins praying as well as contacting everyone they can regarding this matter...soon he will be freed!

May God Bless You for your effort!

I will contact my senator and congressmen about getting involved with this, I will also keep Eric and his family in my prayers. Free Eric!!!!!

Eric Volz

Something MUST be done to get this young man out of that awful prison. This is a terrible, terrible injustice given all the facts on the television report. With all the evidence, witnesses, times of where he was when Doris was being killed clearly takes Eric out of the picture.

I am very sad and my heart goes out to the Mother that has lost such a beautiful, vibrant daughter but Eric was not the one who brutally took her life.

For Erics Parents!!!! I cannot Imagine the suffering and the pain that you are going through and for that I am so sad, you are all constantly on my mind.
If it is any comfort at all, know that many people are with you and with Eric and what ever needs to be done to get Eric out of that awful prison, must be done.

Whatever I can do please feel free to email me and I will do everything I can to assist.
