"Ronulans": Now that is funny

Looks like there are several nice blog posts out there covering this, but Captain's Quarters has a nice pair of posts. The most recent of which is this one.

It never ceases to amaze me how gullible voters can be. You spew a few buzz words associated with a particular ideology or policy position (free markets, free trade, balanced budget) and far too many people stand at attention. Sad, really...think of how much of your time and energy Ron Paul has wasted. Think of the resources he has acquired and used over the last three decades--that can't possibly have been an efficient allocation, can it? It looks increasingly like he is not the kind of guy who is unafraid to tell us the TRUTH. He did give us clues though. As discussed in Will's last post about Paul, anyone making statements like: "The CFR exists," is not speaking the plain truth.

The American Politician

I saw this video (h/t or whatever to Instapundit) which should make you want to put your fist through the screen several times. A quick search on ask.com led me to this gem. Keep a sick bag close at hand.

Quick summary. The National City city council is giving some regular folks the boot to make way for some posh condos. The mayor, presumably leading the council, is Ron Morrison (you will see him in the video). What makes this classic is the second link above, which is an Hispanic organization's (La Prensa San Diego) 2002 endorsement of Ron Morrison for mayor. The money quote in the endorsement is this:

Tales of America's Youth

No doubt it is all shits-and-giggles for some, at one the nation's top Universities, as a student from MIT walked into Logan airport with a circuit board strapped to her back. But hey, it's just like a frickin britelite, and she thought it was art and stuff, so what is the big deal, man.

In other news, two reports from half a world away. Rest in peace, 1LT Travis Manion, and Sgt. Eddie Jeffers.

Of Steel and Beams and Bozos

I am not a huge fan of football, but I do watch a little during the regular season, and most of the playoffs. The Steelers have been my favorite team for a long time. Hearing "the Steelers", until now always lead my thoughts to names like Swan, Stallworth, Franco Harris, Mean Joe Greene, Bradshaw, Noll, Cowher. Now, the first name that will leap to mind will forever be Steely McBeam, sure, I will say that again, STEELY McBEAM!...what a pity. As one commenter stated (see link), I think some of my friends too will find Pat Patriot a lot easier to bear now.

Building Consensus

When I first read this article, I thought I had been mistakenly directed to the Onion. But no, there it was in black and white. This brings new meaning to the phrase "scheduling conflict".

France Cowboys Up!

No editorializing on my part yet, just simple relief.

Sarkozy Elected

Anbar

There is more interesting news from Anbar Province. The Fourth Rail has a summary, or you can read the entire piece reported in the Christian Science Monitor here.

Achtung!

Instapundit had an excellent link earlier today. I wanted to pass it along in case GWH readers missed it. It is an interesting, and I think surprising editorial in Der Spiegel. I imagine the youth of Germany must be very grateful for the US House and Senate.

You can find the editorial here:

Some Fun for the Anti-Part-D Fanatics

This slipped by me last week, but Professor Dan McFadden had some positive things to say about Part D (for its proponents, anyway). I have yet to read his analyses, but plan to now when time permits.

To quote a quote from Greg Mankiw’s blog:

“…but I think it is reasonable to say that the Part D market has performed as well as its partisans hoped, and far better than its detractors expected.” -McFadden
