Jumping Ship

Those of us who want to support the Libertarian Party are often told that we're throwing our votes away. The Libertarians, they say, aren't large enough and that a better tactic is to attempt to infiltrate one of the established parties. This site has even discussed the possibility of libertarians leaving the GOP for the Democratic Party.

Critically Ill Senator

It's hard to believe that Senator Paul Coverdell (R-GA) died six and a half years ago. Today the state Departments of Transportation have much more clout than any neighborhood, and even the fairly well to do are at risk of having their homes taken by the state so more pavement can be laid. read more »

Let me get this straight

During the weeks leading up to the elections I heard conservative talk radio hosts complaining about the Democrats. They said the Dems have been bitter for 12 years and still think they have a right to be in power. Has it dawned on any of those same hosts that the Republicans lost control for the very same reason?

Christians and the Liberal Bargain

This post is in response to Will's post concerning the debate between Linker v. Douthat. I originally posted this as a reply, but it's too big to qualify as a mere reply.

I'm not disagreeing, per se, with the idea that religious neutrality is impossible. And I reject the idea that faith should be kept private and not influence our politics. The founding fathers and most of our presidents did not keep their religious beliefs to themselves; rather those beliefs guided their policies. read more »
