I've actually had a lot more thoughts on the past week's debate now that I have had some time to think about it.
Amazing how so many people diverged on who the winners and losers were of last night's debate. While there does seem to be a consensus that Romney did the best, there were those who thought the winner was Huckabee, John McCain, Rudy Giuliani, and even
I'm sure that there have been debates with dumber questions, but I would be hard pressed to remember which one.
"What do you dislike most about America?"
"Beside yourself, who do you think should be the Republican nominee for president of the United States, and why?"
"What would you think about Bill Clinton back in the White House?
"Is Karl Rove your friend?"
"Do you believe in evolution?"
What utterly useless questions!
I'm baffled as to how many Republican/conservative bloggers spoke highly of Duncan Hunter. That guy reminds me of the Vice President in this season's 24.
Prediction: Unless something changes dramatically for the better in Iraq in the next 18 months, whoever the Republican candidate turns out to be is going to lose by a not insignificant margin in 2008. Did these guys learn nothing from the midterm elections? Neither party can win a presidential race without lots of votes from moderates and independents. I know that this is just the Republican primary, but there isn't any way that any of these guys are going to be able to back off their strong support of our current position in Iraq.
