The Case for Bill Richardson

I'm going to make the argument that Bill Richardson is the best man, of those currently committed to running, for the job of the presidency. I'm not going to argue that he is the most electable. That is a separate discussion, which I will attack in a future post.

Bill Richardson has all the qualities and experience required for a successful presidency. Governor Richardson is running on both his local and national resume. He is really the only candidate that can say that.

Congressman Hank Johnson to Introduce Resolution Addressing US Attorney Scandal

I just received information that House Judiciary Committee member, Rep. Hank Johnson of Georgia will be introducing a resolution to honor the work of U.S. Attorneys and specifically those who were ousted for what appears to be political reasons.

While some will argue that these appointments are political in nature and that the U.S. Attorneys serve at the president's pleasure, there doesn't appear to be much doubt that these particular attorneys were ousted because they weren't aggressively pursuing certain politically-motivated cases.

Pork: A Bipartisan Meal

One things remains constant in Washington D.C. regardless of the party in charge and that is the shameless ability of politicians to subvert the legislative process by adding non-related spending to almost any sort of bill.

Congress has added the following amendments to President Bush's emergency spending bill for Iraq:

  • $74 million for peanut storage in Georgia.
  • $25 million for spinach growers in California.
  • $100 million for citrus growers.
