Giuliani? Does he excite anyone?

Former NYC mayor, Rudolph Giuliani takes step toward '08 bid by forming an exploratory committee.

He is a fiscal conservative and social liberal that runs as a Republican. He is pro-business and law enforcement, but also in favor of gun control, abortion rights and gay marriage. He has been married 3 times. Where does he fit into the Republican scheme of things?

Do any of the Republicans or conservatives get excited about his candidacy for America's highest office? Why?

November 7th by the Numbers

Over at the main site of the Ashbrook Center for Public Affairs, sponsor of the No Left Turns blog to which I contribute, I've posted one of my preliminary takes on the election ("November 7th by the Numbers").

After noting the massive advantage House Democrats currently hold in what I call "ultra-safe seats" (won with more than 70% of the vote), I offer the following observations:

Boortz: Libertarian candidates doing better

Neal Boortz points out that in many races Libertarian candidates did better than ever. I suspect that Republicans lost more than a few races because of Libertarian defections. And why not? As Neal points out:

THINKING LIBERTARIAN?

"It is clear that something is terribly wrong in Washington right now. We just went through an election where principles of individual liberty and limited government were not even on the table. I am hard-pressed to name one leading Republican or Democrat who still extols the virtues of freedom, individualism, free markets and limited government."
