I know that I am a bit late to the game on this one. I've been sick for about a week. Kudos to Professor Knippenberg for holding down the fort in my absence.

So this past weekend at the annual CPAC convention, invited speaker Ann Coulter shocked the audience with this little doozy when speaking about John Edwards:

"I'd say something about John Edwards, but if you use the word 'faggot', you have to go to rehab."

I should first note that my use of "shocked" is dripping with sarcasm. Is there a person in America who was shocked that Coulter would say such a thing? I wouldn't be shocked if she dropped the n-bomb on live national television if she thought it would garner her more attention.

For the most part, the right-wing blogosphere has harshly denounced Coulter and rightly so. (Hugh Hewitt, Michelle Malkin, Right Wing News, and Captain's Quarters) What I don't understand is why this was the final straw? Why not last year?

At last year's CPAC conference, Coulter has this to say:

"I think our motto should be post-9-11, 'raghead talks tough, raghead faces consequences.'"

So last year's comment was ok but this year she went over the line? One really has to question the organizers of CPAC and their decision to invite Coulter to speak again this year. Though the joke is on them.

I used to think that Ann Coulter was simply a money-grubbing narcissist. But I have changed my mind. She is actually a money-grubbing fraud.

So here is the video of Coulter making her comment. Note the audience reaction and the look on her face.

Is there any doubt that Coulter has pulled one over on this crowd? And in fact most conservatives.

I don't believe that Coulter is conservative at all. She is playing a role in the same way that Sasha Baron Cohen plays Borat. And she is making fools of the very people who defend her.
